The piece features a generous round bowl with a warm dark tortoiseshell patina — graduating from rich amber-brown tones to deep black — and a short curved hook handle with a circular eyelet, perfect for hanging or hooking over the rim of a caddy or snuff box.

Horn caddy spoons were popular throughout the 18th and 19th centuries as elegant accessories for the tea table or gentleman’s snuff box. Each piece was unique, shaped by the natural form of the horn, and this example displays wonderful natural figuring and a lovely aged polish.
