A beautifully crafted piece of Australian silversmithing history, this footed sugar basket was made by K.G. Luke Pty Ltd of Melbourne under their Marlborough by Paramount label — one of Australia’s finest silverplate makers of the era.

The basket sits on four ornate decorative claw feet and features an intricately embossed floral and leaf rim, a graceful scalloped handle, and a warm gold wash interior that remains intact. The original silverplate spoon is included, making this a complete and functional set.

Adding to its charm, the basket bears a personalised script engraving reading “Luigi and Maria” — a romantic touch that speaks to its history as a cherished gift, and makes it a meaningful piece for collectors or as a unique wedding or anniversary present today.

Stamped on the base: Marlborough by Paramount, EPNS A1 — denoting the highest quality silverplate of the period.

Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with age. Some tarnishing to the exterior which would respond well to a gentle polish.
