DESCRIPTION
A beautiful vintage W.H. Bossons hand-painted plaster wall plaque depicting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Stratford-upon-Avon — the beloved childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife. The circular plaque features an exquisitely detailed three-dimensional relief scene of the famous thatched Tudor cottage, surrounded by trees in autumn colour, garden walls, and a winding country lane. The hand-painting brings every detail to life — from the warm golden thatch and red brick chimneys to the rich greens and russet tones of the surrounding landscape.
W.H. Bossons of Congleton, England were renowned for their high quality hand-painted plaster wall plaques and figures, produced from the 1940s through to the 1990s. Their cottage and countryside scenes are among the most collectible of their range, and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage is one of their most iconic and sought-after subjects.
The back bears the original Bossons stamp: “Hand Painted Plaster, W.H. Bossons, Made in England” with the hanging ring intact.
